Tigerwood is a beautiful exotic Brazilian hardwood which provides one of the most unique patterns you will ever see. Because of its incredible beauty, tigerwood is highly sought after for both interior and exterior applications. Tigerwood may be used residentially or commercially wherever the strong look is desired.
Tigerwood is a species which exhibits a wide range of color and striping. The striping can vary from fine lines to bold strokes. Tigerwood exhibits a large degree of color change with a pronounced darkening of the background under the stripes from a light orangey tan to a deep reddish brown color, which then in turn makes the striping less contrasting and more subtle.
Tigerwood is a very dense and heavy wood, with a Janka hardness of 2160 (67% harder than Red Oak at 1210). It is extremely durable and will stand up well to wear. Tigerwood is dimensionally stable and resists twisting and warping. It will remain smooth, splinter-free and friendly to bare feet for years.
